For the area we will divide the figure as follow:

The total area will be:

[tex]A=A_a+A_b[/tex]

We find the are of a rectangle by:

[tex]A=h\cdot b[/tex]

Where h is height and b is base

Then:

[tex]A_a=5\cdot2=10[/tex][tex]A_b=2\cdot1=2[/tex]

Then the total area is:

[tex]A=10+2=12^{\doubleprime}[/tex]

In feets:
